Gerald McCormack was born at Maesteg, Mid Glamorgan South Wales in 1929.
One of eight children of Irish descent whose father came from County Wexford.

He left school at 14 and worked locally until joining the Army, serving with the
1st Coldstream Guards mainly in the Middle East

In 1953 he joined the Glamorgan Constabulary, later merge to become the
South Wales Constabulary and seved 25 years, 10 years in Uniform, 8 years C.I.D
7 years as a Scenes of Crime Officer served at Ystalyfera, Clydach, Gorseinon,
Gowerton, Sandfields, Port Talbot, Neath and retired from the Constabulary in 1978.

For the next 14 years Gerald McCormack was employed as a Security Officer
at the Bridgend Paper Mills. retiring in 1994.
